ALPHARETTA, GA, June 13th, 2019 - SWM International (NYSE: SWM), Argotec™ Interlayer Films have been added to the Safety Glazing Certification Council’s (SGCC®) list of accepted interlayers. This means that architects and engineers can be confident in specifying Argotec Interlayer Films for architectural glazing and builders installing glass laminated with Argotec interlayer films can be assured the glass meets industry safety standards.
The SGCC is an independent agency focused on safety glazing standards. Glass laminates made with Argotec ST-6050 TPU and SE-381 EVA Interlayer Films were subjected to independent laboratory “Impact and Aging/Weathering” testing requirements of ANSI Z97 (2015). As a result of surpassing the testing, both interlayer films were added to the SGCC’s List of Acceptable Interlayers. SGCC’s addition of the ST-6050 film makes SWM the first TPU manufacturer to have its film included in the list.
“Organizations such as SGCC provide an added level of independent product validation in the architectural glazing marketplace,” said Tom Niziolek, Commercial Director of Optical Films for SWM’s Advanced Materials & Structures business. “As the use of TPU and EVA interlayer films grow in importance in manufacturing laminated architectural glass, it was paramount to work with an organization such as SGCC that provides industry-critical benefits such as finished product certification and accepted material lists for the architectural glazing market.”
Argotec™ Interlayer Films are available in TPU and EVA resins, with custom lamination and slitting options. They provide multiple options for designers and fabricators focusing on impact resistant, protective, dynamic and decorative glazing applications.
SWM also offers a complementary product line called Argotec™ EdgeSeal Film, which is engineered to provide additional protection to glass. EdgeSeal was specifically designed for laminators to seal the edges of multilayer glass composites. It provides dramatically enhanced moisture and solvent resistance, helps protect the edge of glass laminates from chipping, and minimizes the risk of composite layer damage.
In addition to manufacturing films for glass applications, SWM produces square and diamond netting, engineered composites, nonwoven media and extruded tubing. SWM manufacturing facilities are ISO 9001:2015 certified and located in the USA, Europe and Asia.
