Our European Sites Secure AEO Certification

Our European operations have successfully renewed their prestigious Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) certification, reinforcing our position as a trusted leader in international supply chains. This achievement reflects years of dedication, cross-functional collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

What Does AEO Certification Really Mean?

AEO certification is considered as a “gold standard” seal of approval from European customs authorities. It’s awarded only to companies that demonstrate exceptional reliability, compliance, and security in their international operations. Our journey began in 2010 when Le Mans site became the first SWM International entity to achieve this status, followed by Quimperlé (2011), Strykow (2014), and Saint-Girons (2015).

The certification comes in different forms. Our plants in Quimperlé, Le Mans, and Strykow hold the comprehensive AEO-F status (covering both Customs and Security), while Saint-Girons maintains AEO-C certification (Customs). This recognition extends beyond Europe’s borders through Mutual Recognition Agreements with major trading partners, including China, Japan, the USA, the UK, Switzerland, Norway, and Moldova.

The Recent Renewal: A Team Success Story

Suzy Dieul, Customs and Tax Manager, explains that every three years, our sites undero rigorous audits to maintain this certification. Our latest renewal is a resounding sucess. Customs authorities validated our performance across critical areas: regulatory compliance and adherence to customs regulations, financial stability and sound business practices, staff competence and training programs and security of systems and infrastructure. According to the Customs & Tax Team this renewal required the involvement of all corporate functions. It’s a company-wide effort. The renewal process brought together teams form customs, finance, logistics, warehouse, IT, and HR, all coordinated by our dedicated AEO and Security Referents.

Why this AEO Renewal Matters for our Customers?

It allows :

  • Faster customs clearance. It means our goods are classified as a priority. Our goods move through checkpoints more quickly.
  • Fewer Inspections: Our low-risk status means reduced physical inspections.
  • Simplified Procedures: Streamlined documentation requirements.

Dedicated to Being a Trusted Partner in the Global Marketplace

As we celebrate this achievement, it’s worth remembering that AEO certification isn’t just about meeting regulatory requirements. It’s a reflection of who we are as a company: committed to excellence, security-conscious, and dedicated to being a trusted partner in the global marketplace. We can demonstrate our commitment to securing international supply chains and ensure trust and closer collaboration with customers authorities worldwide.
