Press Release
February 16, 2026
Luxembourg, 16 February 2026 – SWM International, a global leader in engineered papers, has opened an office in Dubai, UAE, marking the company’s first direct presence in the Middle East as it seeks to strengthen its position across the region, Africa, and India.
The new office is located in Expo City Dubai, a LEED-certified development built on repurposed Expo 2020 infrastructure and designed as a model for net-zero urban living. The expansion represents a strategic pivot for SWM, which previously served Middle Eastern customers through its European operations. The company cited the UAE’s geographic positioning, established infrastructure, and favorable business environment as key factors in its site selection.
Opening our Dubai office marks an important step in SWM’s global growth journey. With a dedicated team on the ground, we will be able to provide faster, more responsive support, build stronger partnerships, and deliver the innovative, high-quality solutions our customers expect from us, says Katrin Hanske, President & CEO.
The regional team combines local market expertise with SWM’s century-long track record in paper manufacturing. The move also positions the company to capitalize on growing demand for sustainable ultra-lightweight packaging and specialty paper products, a segment SWM has targeted through recent product development initiatives.
With the addition of Dubai, SWM now maintains direct operations across South America, North America, Europe, and the Middle East. The company characterises this global representation, supported by strong local teams, as a distinctive competitive asset within the specialty paper and packaging sector.
